A: It’s all about the steel-to-aluminum ratio. If your project involves a huge span, we can beef up the steel content. If power delivery (ampacity) is the main priority for an urban line, we add more aluminum strands instead. We tailor it to the site.
Q: How many wires are typically in the steel core?
A: It depends on how much tension you’re dealing with. Usually, the core is made of 1, 7, or 19 individual steel wires. This multi-strand approach is better because it offers a mix of mechanical toughness and enough flexibility so the crew can actually install it.

A: Every steel wire gets a full galvanizing treatment before stranding. This zinc coating acts as a permanent shield against rust, which is why these lines stay stable for decades even in humid coastal areas or industrial zones.

A: Sagging is much less of a headache with ACSR. Steel has a much lower expansion rate than aluminum. This means when the lines get hot during a summer peak, the steel core helps maintain a safe ground clearance so the wire doesn’t drop too low.
