THHN Cable : Product Description and Specifications
THHN is basically the ‘bread and butter’ of the building wire market. It stands for Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon-coated. Why the Nylon? It acts like a hard skin over the PVC insulation. This makes the wire slick and tough, so you can pull it through conduit without it snagging or tearing—which is a nightmare with cheaper wires. It’s rated for 90°C, resists oil and gas, and is the standard go-to for pretty much any indoor residential or commercial wiring job.

Q: Why the Nylon skin?
答: Two reasons: Protection and Speed. It acts like armor against scrapes, but mainly? It makes the wire slick. It slides through conduit like it’s greased. Without that nylon, pulling wire is a struggle.
Q: Can I use this outdoors?
答: Only inside conduit. You cannot leave this wire exposed to sunlight or weather. It needs a pipe.
Q: Is it THWN?
答: Pretty much. Most of our stock is dual-rated THHN/THWN-2. So it handles dry heat and wet locations equally well. Just check the print on the wire.
Q: Solid or Stranded?
答: Your call. We stock Solid (easier to push) for small circuits and Stranded (easier to bend) for larger feeders.
Q: Can I bury it in dirt?
答: Absolutely not. THHN is not for direct burial. It will fail. If you go underground, it 必須的 be inside a proper conduit system. If you want to bury wire directly, go buy UF-B cable.
Q: Is it oil resistant?
