    Product Description

NYBY/NAYBY Power Cable : Product Description and Specifications

NYBY/NAYBY power cable serves as a robust low-voltage armoured solution for fixed installations. For instance, it performs reliably in distribution networks, industrial facilities, and underground systems.

Specifically, the cable features PVC insulated cores and a PVC outer sheath. Furthermore, it incorporates double steel tape armour (using copper for NYBY and aluminium for NAYBY). This design provides strong mechanical protection against external impact, compression, and soil movement.

Finally, you can install these cables in power supply lines for buildings, factories, and municipal projects. Because they offer enhanced mechanical strength, they also suit cable trenches and direct burial systems perfectly.

Have more questions?

Easily get started by finding the answers to commonly asked questions about our company and services.

Q: NYBY vs. NAYBY: Which one do I need?

A: It’s a choice of conductor material. NYBY is the standard Copper version. NAYY (with the ‘A’) is the Aluminum version. Structurally they are identical—both have that double steel tape armor—but NAYBY is lighter and significantly cheaper for long distribution runs where diameter isn’t an issue.

Q: Can I bury these directly underground?

A: Yes, that’s exactly what they are built for. The Double Steel Tape Armor (DSTA) is designed to protect the cable from crushing pressures (like rocks or soil settling) in direct burial trenches.

Q: What is the rated voltage?

A: These are standard low-voltage distribution cables, rated for 0.6/1 kV (IEC 60502-1).

Q: Details on the Armor: Is it wire or tape?

A: These use Steel Tape Armor (STA), not wire. Crucial engineering note: Tape armor is excellent for radial protection (crushing), but it has very poor tensile strength. Do not use this cable if you are pulling it vertically or over long unsupported spans—use SWA (Wire Armor) for that.

Q: Outdoor use?

A: Yes. The heavy PVC outer sheath is UV-resistant and weather-proof. You can run them outdoors, in ducts, or buried. Just keep the bending radius in mind because the steel tape makes them quite stiff.

Q: Temperature limits?

A: Since the insulation is PVC, not XLPE, you are limited to a max operating temperature of 70°C. Make sure your current rating calculations reflect this, especially if grouped in a trench.

Q: How do I get a quote?

A: Don’t worry about generic forms. Just email us your Cable Schedule or BOM (Bill of Materials). We need to know: Copper or Aluminum, the cross-section size, and the drum length. We’ll get a price back to you ASAP.

Q: How do I contact the seller about NYBY/NAYBY cables?

A: Use either “contact us” link on product listing page or visit seller’s profile on e-commerce platform to get more information regarding this item.
